HSE Advisor (Indianapolis)

SMG is seeking an HSE Advisor in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Overview of Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintain HSE procedures that align with local aspects
  • Develop Self-Assessment (SA) process structure and facilitate SA’s
  • Maintain the Management System Training course and integrate it into the Learning Management System for employees annually
  • Maintain the HSE new hire checklist
  • Verify that training curricula are set up correctly
  • Maintain HSE performance scorecards
  • Conduct safety walkthroughs
  • Assists in the establishment and implementation of the DPEM HSE Mgmt. System and achievement of HSE vision, goals, targets, and plans
  • Ensures HSE aspects are identified
  • Facilitates the Self-Assessment process among teams
  • Sends out business unit-wide HSE communications periodically
  • Monitor internal standards and regulatory requirements, and communicate updates as needed
  • Oversees local HSE procedures
  • Establishes systems to assemble and report HSE data and issues
  • Conducts routine HSE walkthroughs
  • Manages the risk assessment process for traveling employees and maintains assessment data
  • Schedule assessments and track completion of action items
  • Ensure HSE training courses are properly assigned based on the work being performed and related hazards
  • Assists with the facilitation of the HSE new hire checklist process for new employees
  • Maintain HSE scorecard metrics and share as needed with stakeholders
  • Respond to deficiencies from incidents, issues identified by committees, self-assessments, audits, etc.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in HSE or HSE-related field
  • Minimum of 5 to 7 years of related work experience
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Word, Access, Excel, and PowerPoint

General Industry Safety Advisor (Lebanon, IN)

SMG is seeking a General Industry Safety Advisor in Lebanon, Indiana.

The Safety Advisor will support the site employees when we start commissioning and qualification activities. 

Overview of Job Responsibilities

  • Manage teams/departments, oversee program execution, and program ownership
  • Partner with the project team to support the proper execution of all local/State/and Federal safety requirements
  • Serve as a liaison between the client and contractors, fulfilling operating procedures and safety policies
  • Partner with the project team and all trade partners to build and maintain a safety culture aligned with the client’s vision
  • Conduct safety observations and establish appropriate corrective actions for all unsafe conditions or practices identified during field visits
  • Keep stakeholders informed of the safety performance of the contractors working on the project
  • Facilitates Incident Reporting Procedures
  • Provide safety “boots on the ground” resources for the client to ensure program execution
  • Provide coaching to contractors when gaps are identified and communicate safety expectations
  • Influence the proper execution of safety plans and participate in event investigations

Requirements

  • 5+ years of construction safety experience
  • Three-plus years of experience managing teams/departments, overseeing program execution, and managing program ownership
  • Previous Commissioning experience
  • Degree in Safety or related fields
  • Previous safety leadership experience
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Course

Safety Advisor (Clinton, IN)

Safety Management Group is seeking a Safety Advisor in Clinton, Indiana.

Overview of Job Responsibilities

  • Owner representation to partner with both Elanco and the contractor to support the safe execution of work
  • Support contractors with daily task planning, job safety analysis, and hazard recognition activities
  • Review job permits to verify they are completed and properly address hazards
  • Conduct job site observations to verify work is being performed per approved job safety plans and daily task plans
  • Participate in project planning meetings and safety committees
  • Assist and periodically lead toolbox talks when requested
  • Ensure high-risk activities are identified and mitigation controls are in place before work begins

Responsibilities

•Set the direction of safety program and communicate to HSE Staff & Management
•Establish metrics used to measure success and set annual goals
•Attend executive meetings to facilitate ongoing safety related discussion
•Manage annual budget for ongoing safety needs as well as non-routine safety investments

•5-7 years minimum related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience in the management of safety and risk in an organization
•A familiarity with and implementation of safety related to OSHA Construction standards
•Experience with customer online safety and risk compliance portals, i.e. ISNetworld, Avetta, etc. is preferred
