Site Safety Representative (Indianapolis)

Safety Resources is seeking construction site safety representatives local to the Indianapolis area.

Candidate Qualifications:

  1. Safety and health certification/designation such as CSP, CIH, ASP, ARM, CHST, OSHT and at least 5 years practical experience; OR
  2. Bachelor’s degree in Safety Management or related field with at least 3 years relevant experience; OR
  3. 5+ years relevant construction safety and health experience; AND
  4. Current OSHA 500 certification for construction or OSHA 30 hour course completed in the past 5 years AND
  5. Completion of a Red Cross or approved equivalent for CPR, First Aid, AED, and BBP training course
  6. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  7. Ability to develop professionally prepared technical report and documents.

HSE Advisor (Indianapolis)

Safety Management Group is seeking an HSE Advisor in Indianapolis, IN.

HSE Advisor position will provide leadership for all aspects of the site Contractor Health, Safety and Environmental (CHSEMP) program, including the following:

  • Knowledgeable on PSM process, environmental standards, and supporting shutdown work activities
  • Performance of event investigation and meeting reviews as required in Contractor HSE Advisor & Environmental Management Program (CHSEMP) documents. Must be proficient in root cause analysis. Ensuring accurate and timely event information is entered into the tracking database, and timely and appropriate communications are completed.
  • Administration of claims management for all contractor-related events in or surrounding areas.
  • Completing a minimum of five documented field observation reports per week and ensuring accurate field observation documentation is entered into the tracking database.
  • Translation of field observation findings into a summary format, including trend analysis. The Advisor will package and present this information to Business Area Personnel/Management and recommendations for improving the contractor program. This will also include developing and maintaining leading and trailing CHSEMP metrics.
  • Facilitation of pre-bid and pre-contract meetings, as needed. The Advisor will lead these meetings from an HSE perspective and inform contractors/vendors in attendance of HSE requirements. Creation and revision of specifications to be included in contract documents.
  • Meeting with customers on a scheduled, predetermined basis. The Advisor will demonstrate to the Customer efforts to lead the CHSEMP program and progress made on Owner-driven initiatives.
  • Attendance at progress or contractor meetings as requested. The Advisor will provide leadership, insight, and recommendations for improvement from a Contractor HSE Advisor perspective.
  • Facilitate building access requests for contractors to the appropriate building owner. This includes the annual review of access lists to remove contracts that no longer require access.
  • Completion of process verifications to indicate the level of conformance to the CHSEMP process. Advisor will make formal recommendations to the Business Area and the Contractor Health, Safety, and Environmental Team (CHSEMT) for program improvements.
  • Administration and implementation of the Contractor HSE Orientation Program, including efforts to improve the orientation.
  • Assisting Owner employees during the Contract Firm HSE Qualification process.
  • Assist with construction project work occurring in areas.
  • Prepares and provides reports of findings with recommendations for corrective action to appropriate customer personnel.
  • Monitors the company’s contractor HSE Advisor standards per OSHA and state regulations.
  • Provides assistance and support to applicable Customer personnel.
  • Researches and resolves problems and questions or properly refers them.


  • Bachelor’s degree in contractor HSE Advisor or contractor HSE Advisor related field from four-year college or university or higher with a minimum of 3-5 years related work experience. 
  • Professional Certification desired. If not, the Advisor must be willing to obtain professional development initiatives in alignment with the performance metric established by the customer.
  • Ability to interpret and apply in practice, construction, and environmental information from all codes, standards, regulations, Federal and State laws, and all other applicable regulatory documents.
  • Must have experience and a general understanding of industrial hygiene applications and process contractor HSE Advisor management requirements.
  • Capable of providing contractor HSE Advisor support to various trades/services, including (but not limited to) facility maintenance, laboratories, housekeeping, and project construction.
  • Have thorough knowledge of lead/asbestos regulations and hazardous waste handling.
  • Ability to interpret and apply DOT requirements to shipping and handling mail, packages, and hazardous waste.
  • Prior experience/knowledge with risk management, statistical methods, and behavior-based contractor HSE Advisor concepts.
  • Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to maintain a positive attitude. The Advisor must be energized, lead and instill leadership qualities in others, including contractors.
  • Demonstration of self-initiating behavior, including interjection into processes as necessary for the betterment of the contractor HSE Advisor program.
  • Prior experience in program development and technical writing.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Word, Access, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with statistical control methods.
  • Experience with Owner Controlled Insurance Programs (OCIP).
