Safety Advisor (West Lafayette, IN)

SMG is seeking a Safety Advisor – Construction in West Lafayette, Indiana – Day Shift

The key function of a Safety Advisor is to put safety at the forefront of their job, prioritize the client’s needs, work well in a team setting, be self-managed, and be flexible when it comes to change and travel. The Associate in this role will work in a construction environment. This project is scheduled to last for 4 months. They will work 50 hours Monday – Friday and 8 hours on Saturday. This is a new construction project of a semiconductor. This person will be overseeing earthwork. 

Overview of Job Responsibilities

  • Site safety observations, including documentation of findings
  • Must be able to create reports, run safety metrics, and use other software programs
  • Conduct Job Hazard Analysis
  • Provides incident management and support
  • Documentation and Report preparation
  • Support and Coordinate Crew communication with on site GC Safety Staff with daily work permits 
  • Daily support, advise, guidance on OSHA compliance / Site compliance and safe behavior enforcement 
  • Enforce Owner Site Safety Plan 
  • Use of Owner’s Safety Software – Safety Reports 
  • Communication with Safety Director 
  • Assist in Basic First Aid and incident investigations with RCA – STKY process.  

Requirements

  • Seven plus years of construction safety experience
  • Must have a CHST or higher BCSP certification
  • Heavy civil experience needed 
  • Ability to use safety software systems
  • A degree in safety or related fields is preferred
  • First-aid/CPR certification from the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association
  • OSHA 510
