Senior Safety Professional (Lafayette, IN)

Key Responsibilities of the Senior Safety Professional:

The Senior Safety Professional will be responsible for the overall management, direction, and oversight of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) programs, strategy, and staff activities. This role supports the facility by implementing, auditing, and continuously improving OHS practices, policies, and procedures to achieve the highest levels of protection for employees and company assets, while collaborating with operations and other business leaders to achieve efficient productivity.

Minimum Requirements:

•          Must be authorized to work in the United States.

•          Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), Industrial Management, or a related technical discipline.

•          7+ years of OHS facility management experience in manufacturing.

•          Demonstrated success in developing and utilizing leading and lagging KPIs, resulting in lower health and safety metrics.

•          Proven experience implementing Critical Safety Programs such as: Powered Industrial Vehicles, Cranes and Hoist, Fall Prevention, Confined Spaces, Industrial Hygiene, Machine Safety, Lockout/Tagout, and Contractor Safety.

Additional Preferred (not required) Competencies:

•          Experience in a molten metals environment

•          10+ years of OHS management experience in manufacturing environments.

•          Professional Certifications (GSP, ASP, CSP, etc.).

•          MBA or Master’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related discipline.

Major Responsibilities Include:

•          Partnering with operations leadership and general workforce, serving as a Subject Matter Expert regarding interpretation of federal, state, and local OHS regulations.

•          Aligning corporate and local OHS goals and strategies.

•          Leading, developing, and managing local OHS staff members.

•          Leading OHS audits and inspections, developing remediation plans as needed.

•          Building and maintaining positive relationships with federal, state, and local regulators.

•          Leading Continuous Improvement initiatives regarding OHS policies and programs.
