The Central Indiana Chapter is pleased to share this year’s recipients of the ASSP Foundation Scholarship, funded by ASSP Central Indiana Chapter, in memory of Jim Kriner for $3000 is Johnson Adetooto and the $2000 scholarship is Jacob Penrod.

Johnson Adetooto, a doctorate degree student is studying Civil Engineering (Construction Engineering and Management), at Purdue University.

Jacob Penrod is aa master’s degree student studying Industrial Hygiene at Purdue University.

The 2027 ASSP Foundation Academic Scholarship application opens on October 15, 2026 and closes on February 15, 2027. Through one application, students are considered for more than 100 scholarships made possible by Chapter and member donors.

The Central Indiana Chapter of the American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP) is accepting applications for its 2027 Future Leader Scholarship.

The scholarship supports the next generation of occupational safety and health professionals by recognizing students who demonstrate academic achievement, leadership potential, professional involvement and a commitment to advancing workplace safety.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

• Be an active ASSP student member in good standing.
• Must have attended at least two Student Section or Central Indiana Chapter meetings.
• Be enrolled at Indiana State University, Indiana University or Purdue University.
• Be pursuing a degree in occupational safety management or a closely related field.
• Meet all additional requirements listed in the scholarship application.

Students are encouraged to describe their academic accomplishments, involvement in ASSP or other professional activities, career goals and vision for contributing to the safety profession.
