Chapter Meeting and CCS Safety Directors’ Forum – Day 2

  •  November 6, 2024
     11:00 am - 1:00 pm

The Central Indiana ASSP Chapter and CCS have joined efforts to provide a 2-part joint event series on Excavation Safety. The second event will be a Lunch & Learn held at United Rentals facility (location TBD), and the presentation topics will focus on Excavation Emergency Preparedness and Utility Protection.

Excavation activities are essential to many construction and infrastructure projects, but they come with significant risks, especially when it comes to underground utilities and emergency situations. Join CCS & CIASSP on November 6 from 11:00am – 1:00pm where a comprehensive overview of best practices in excavation emergency preparedness and utility protection will be covered. Participants will also be equipped with the knowledge to prevent accidents, mitigate risks, and respond effectively in emergencies.

Attendees will learn about the latest safety protocols, regulatory requirements, and technologies designed to protect workers and the public from hazards. The session will also cover how to develop emergency response plans, coordinate with utility providers, and ensure compliance with safety standards.

 Key Learning Objectives:

  • Understanding common hazards associated with excavation and utility work
  • Developing emergency preparedness plans specific to excavation sites
  • Exploring techniques and tools for preventing damage to underground utilities
  • Coordinating with utility companies and first responders during emergencies
  • Navigating OSHA and other regulatory requirements for excavation safety
